Random Tasting #01, here it is!

Theme of this tasting: The "Muscadelle" varietal

The Muscadelle is a traditional white grape variety of Bordeaux.
This variety is fragile, susceptible to disease.

Associated with Semillon and Sauvignon to produce sweet wines, it is also used for the production of dry white wines, such as the Bergerac sec, or this Entre-Deux-Mers, La Freynelle, for instance.

The Muscadelle, when healthy, mature, gives a character intensely floral wine with aromas of honeysuckle, acacia .

The Muscadelle is difficult to grow, so it is little planted.

Used in very small proportions in Barsac and Sauternes, it is more and more by some producers of Graves, who appreciate it for the nuances of exotic fruits it brings to white wine.

Consequently, the choice of Véronique Barthe, the producer of Château La Freynelle, is original and promising, in Entre-Deux-Mers region.
